Humm...Miscosoft fixes their security problems by delivering a non-conforming package? Is there a technical reason that justifies this? No README in disk image - merely Silverlight.pkg. Will non be installing until clarified.

I have recently been getting some highly suspicious dialogs manifestly relating to a Silverlight update appearing on my Mac without doing anything to trigger them (like checking for updates, for example). The title is "Microsoft Silverlight Update Available" and it carries on with some text encouraging me to install it. At that place is a very generic application icon within the dialog merely nothing else, and certainly nothing that gives me any confidence that this is genuinely from Microsoft. Every sinew of my torso is telling me this is bogus - surely Microsoft of all people would not consequence an upgrade prompt that is i of the least believable I take ever seen? There are only two alternatives at the bottom of the dialog - "Remind Me Afterwards" or "Update Now". What is the verdict of others?

Silverlight works fine on my MBP (early on 2011) with Os Ten ten.viii.5. I use information technology oftentimes as I am a Netflix subscriber. Never had an issue with it, although it does brand my fans accelerate.

Silverlight five Build 5.1.30214.0 Released March 11, 2014, as Pender stated, this version will non run on Safari7.0.2 in Mavericks. Must resort to Firefox for Netflix and other sights that use silverlight. I was unable to install an older working version of silverlight. Hoping for a quick fix.
